My Top 10 Google Android G1 Wishlist

Submitted by Dana on December 30, 2008 – 9:54 am3 Comments

I’ve had my Android G1 for about a month now.  It’s exactly what everyone says.  The phone has a ton of potential, but it’s just not the iPhone/RIM killer yet.

Being that it’s a few days past Christmas, Here’s my breakdown of what it needs before it becomes my full-time buddy.

  1. On Screen Keyboard
This has been beaten to death by the Android Community.  I’ve read it’s coming with the ‘Cupcake’ release.  Let’s hope.  Please make the keys large too.
  2. Widgets
Again, something that is promised in future SDK releases.  This is essential.  I hate having to open up programs to get the information I need.  I want a quick glance at my next agenda items, tasks, emails etc.  For god sakes Windows Mobile has it, you’d think a Linux distro could get this done ASAP.
  3. Organizable Bookmarks
I want 100 bookmarks, organized by folders.  (Personal, Marketing, SysAdmin, etc.)  Again, Windows Mobile and Symbian can do it, it really can’t be that hard.
  4. Better Google Reader Integration
The mobile web client sucks.  Period.  Get me an app that works like the full browser version.   I go through 1200+ rss feeds a day, please Google… help me…
  5. GPS Navigator that Talks
I get ever soo lonely in the car… j/k I want Verizon’s VZ Navigator for my gPhone.  “Turn left in 1 mile.”  “Destination on right.” “Everybody loves you Dana…”
  6. Better Sync Options
I’ve got some hacked process that keeps all my info in sync.  It works 90% of the time, but is total tech-duct-tape.

My Nokia plugged right in and within seconds took care of everything.  Documents, eMails, Calendars etc.  Why can’t my G1 do that?  This is a hacker phone right??

  7. Office Doc Editing
Speaking of Documents, how come I can edit them online with Google Docs but not on the Google Phone??
  8. Gimme a real Linux Term
With all my commands please.  Whois, nMap, arp, nano, vi, ncFtp etc.
  9. Better use of Removable Storage
Seriously, I have an iPod to handle my Mp3s and it’s a phone, not a digital photo album.  Let me use the storage card to install software, download maps etc.
  10. Better Toys
iPhone’s got tons of goodies.  I want docks, cases etc.  Right now the offering is weak.

Fellow Android’ers, what do you wish for?

Hello Moto,
