HIIT Fitness & Training - Cardio for Those Who Hate Cardio

If you’ve ever heard of HIIT, then skip this post.  However, if you haven’t heard of HIIT, this post is just what you need - I’m about to give you the answer to the cardio-conundrum, for those who hate cardio.  (’And it aint the Wii weight-loss plan.)  What I’m talking about it getting in all the weight-shredding cardio you need, in under 5 minutes.

It’s called HIIT, and wikipedia has this to say:

High-intensity interval training (HIIT) is an exercise strategy that is intended to improve performance with short training sessions.

Thank you WikiPedia.

Also, Japanese Experts had this to say:

This technique boosts
your metabolism and your strength. What’s more, Japanese researchers
found that it provides the same cardiovascular benefits as a 30-minute
bike ride.

Try as I might, I’m not a Japanese expert, but I’m here to enforce that HIIT definitely FEELS as if you’re the same workout as a 30 min run in under 4-6 minutes, depending on how hardcore you are.

My HIIT Routine:

  1. 10 second full-blast, wail on myself workout.  As hard, and as fast as I can without falling off the machine.
  2. 20 second moderate pace.
  3. Rinse, Repeat.

I’m not completely out of shape, and not quite like Slim Goodbody yet, but a 5 minute HIIT on the bike, level 5, kicks my a$$ for over an hour.  You’ll feel this one working, and because it’s so quick and easy, it’s great to mix in between weights etc. to keep your heart rate maxed.

Now get on that HIIT stuff and try not to kill yourself!
